STATUTES OF THE BRAZILIAN ASSOCIATION OF TRANSLATORS


The Statutes should be read in full in the official language: Portuguese. It defines the following points, among others:

- The Brazilian Association of Translators (ABRATES) is an entity that brings together professionals and institutions that operate within the field of translation, in all its types, with emphasis on the national language.

- ABRATES has the aims of:
a) Supporting translation professionals, through informative, cultural and social activities;
b) Promoting interchange with entities and institutions in Brazil and abroad, with the aim of disseminating technological innovations, competitions and other professional opportunities within the field of translation;
c) Promoting and/or supporting the holding of courses, congresses and symposia within its field of activities;
d) Promoting other cultural and social activities that provide its associates with opportunities for contact and integration.

- The Board, which is the administrative body of ABRATES, shall be made up of 8 (eight) positions: President, 1st and 2nd Vice-Presidents, General Secretary, 1st and 2nd Secretaries, 1st and 2nd Treasurers.

- The mandates for the positions on the Board are for 2 (two) years, and one reelection to the same position is allowed.
